Fence Permit Application. The current fencing is over 27 years old and well past due for replacement. It has become unsightly, and, in some places, it is leaning and hence poses a potential danger. We plan to make a few upgrades to the new fence to comply with City of Brookhaven fence permit requirements. (Images were clipped from the web for reference) The “front” face will be oriented outwards towards our three adjoining neighbors’ yards.

The height will be 8 feet. There will be a horizontal rail across the top of the pickets. (Pictures 1 & 2) There will be a post every 8 linear feet. Each post will be set 30 inches below grade, with a concrete base. Each post will extend an additional 6 inches up above the top line of the fence itself. Each post will be capped with a decorative wooden fence post cap.
Picture 3. Example of fence cap. On the left side, as viewed from Grove Street, there will be a 6 feet tall gate, with 8 feet tall fence continuing at right angles to the side of our house. The next page shows a new survey that was commissioned for a variance application last year to permit a new screened-in porch, which is now complete. Although this survey was completed in September of 2020, it is simply an up-to-date version of the original survey, using the original rebar lot corner markers, modern GPS-guided location technology and computer aided drawing. None of the property lines have changed. This shows the property lines and the fence as it is placed today.

The next page shows our plans for the new fence. We have notated the survey as follows: A. Marks the line between our neighbor to the right, as seen from Grove Street, to replace the existing fence with a new 8 feet wide section running directly between the two houses. B. Shows three 8 feet tall main runs of fence on the left, rear, and right property lines. C. Shows an 8 feet tall fence running from the side of our house to adjoin a 6 feet tall gate that then turns 90 degrees and continues back to the rear property line. The replacement fence will be placed just slightly on our side of the three adjoining property lines.
