Good Morning Jonathan,
Your site plan is acceptable. There is a sewer easement in the rear of your property. There are also abandoned capped and sealed small drainage pipes in the easement. DWM is not responsible for repair or replace of these pipes by damaged due to repairs of the public sewer. Thank you,

Perfect.
| sent a PDF with hand-drawn notes. It may be in your mail box by now. Two points of clarification:
1/ All abandoned pipes will be capped and sealed at both ends and inspected by City of Brookhaven before the ends are re-buried under the grass
2/ |f, at any point in the future, DeKalb DVM, or any other contractor or entity, need to dig to access the County sewer pipe and in doing so they damage, destroy or remove the abandoned pipes, we have NO EXPECTATION of the pipes being replaced or repaired. We fully expect there to be NO remediation of any damage to the abandoned pipes. We consider them “trashed” at this point.

Yes that is correct. The note can say something like capped and abandoned in place. Once you send the plan | will consult with my Manager. | think it will be fine. DWM is not responsible for the pipes and if work needs to be done to the sewer pipe in the easement the pipes will not be replaced.
No problem. | haven’t used CAD in several years © Thank you,

Thank you Yola,
I am traveling all day today but will try to find a time to illustrate on our site plan where we think the pipes are...where they cross the easement and hence where they would be
abandoned. I assume you are not concerned about placement and abandonment OUTSIDE the sewer easement...is that correct?

Good morning Ms. Lewis, | am writing at the suggestion of Mr. Eric Long at the City of Brookhaven to ask for your help with finalizing a permit, number BLR20-00100. As | think you are aware, we removed and replaced an old deck in our
back yard and you guided us as we altered the shape of the new deck to avoid encroaching into the easement of the sewer line that runs through our yard. That part of the project was approved and completed last year. However, we made a mistake with the rain water run off and drainage. We erroneously ran some pipes into the back corner of our lot which caused an issue with concentrating rain water, rather than sheeting it over our lot.
Our first plan to mitigate the issue had us building a French drain in the bottom corner of out lot, but that would have been over the County sewer pipe, and we now see that was not a good idea...and indeed City of Brookhaven and your office, quite rightly, rejected that idea. We have now revised our plan to NOT use these pipes but rather to create
small drainage areas at the point where each of the downspouts meet the ground. This plan has been approved by the City of Brookhaven, a revised permit has been issued and the work begins later this week. This leaves just one issue:
33
We would very much prefer to simply abandon the pipes we had run previously. Here are the details.
e
The pipes are residential type, 3 inch diameter, lightweight, flexible
e
The City has instructed us to disconnect the pipes from both the
black plastic, buried about 8 to 12 inches below the grass. downspouts at one end and the outflow point at the other end, and to seal and cap them at both ends. They plan to inspect this during the work and once completed. e
The pipes would then simply be left in place.
The City has granted us the permit to do this, with the condition that we get a written approval from your office to do so. The pipes will be capped and sealed. They are relatively small and lightweight
If your crew did ever need to dig to access the sewer pipe, the machinery used to do so would simply break though the abandoned pipes and they'd not cause any incumbrance to the crew.
So, we would like to ask your approval that we can simply abandon them in place.
As part of our yard project we had all new sod installed last fall and we are most hopeful that you will not ask us to dig that all up to remove these small pipes, but simply allow them to remain there.
Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to your soonest
reply.
