Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Brookhaven Beautification and Landscape Crew launches new operation on the Buford Highway corridor Brookhaven’s new Beautification and Landscape Crew rolled up its sleeves and got to work this Wednesday on key state routes, beginning with the Buford Highway corridor, in Brookhaven. The new operation will focus exclusively on the state routes in Brookhaven. In addition to Buford Highway, the Beautification and Landscape Crew will also include Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road, once fully staffed. “Brookhaven is making this investment - money and muscle - into making the Buford Highway corridor as beautiful and functional as possible for our residents,” said Councilman Funny. Today, the crew knocked down the brush and overgrowth, and picked up litter. The next thing will be installing more trash receptacles and regularly emptying those. These workers will also address graffiti tagging in the rights-of-way. Pictured: Councilman John Funny and Parks and Recreation Director Brian Borden survey the area. Councilman Funny joined the Beautification and Landscape Crew with a weed whacker in hand, supporting the new work as aesthetic improvements were being done. Murphey Candler Lake levels to be lowered again As work continues on the Parks Bond funded MCP Multiuse Trail on Dam project in Murphey Candler Park, contractors have been studiously lowering the water in the lake … only to have Mother Nature fill it back up again. Thanks to the recent rains, the lake is full and will be lowered yet again. The water level needs to be lowered to complete the project replacing the existing 5’ wide sidewalk that crosses the MCP dam on the north side of W Nancy Creek Drive with a 11’ wide sidewalk. The new sidewalk will have seven 6’ wide x 30’ long observation decks overlooking the lake with benches and railing. More information and facts about the project can be found on the Parks Bond website at https://www.BrookhavenGA.gov/parks-bond-ref.
