Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources  The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Mayor, McBath & MARTA look to the future Mayor John Ernst, Congresswoman Lucy McBath and MARTA Interim CEO Collie Greenwood tour the Brookhaven MARTA Station and discuss train station improvements and the future new City Hall. ‘Mondays With Madeleine’ virtual town hall to feature City Hall/MARTA discussion The public is invited to join District 3 Councilwoman Madeleine Simmons for the July 2022 edition of her “Mondays With Madeleine” town hall. Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst will join the meeting for a discussion on the City Hall/MARTA deal. This month’s town hall will be held Monday, July 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. via video conference, and will be broadcast on Facebook Live on the City’s Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/BrookhavenGAgov. Volunteers needed for Storm Drain Marker event on Aug. 6 The City of Brookhaven’s Stormwater Division is seeking participants for its annual Storm Drain Marker Volunteer Event on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 8 to 11 a.m.    Volunteers will park and meet at the Lynwood Park Recreation Center, 3360 Osborne Road. Volunteers may RSVP by emailing Stormwater@BrookhavenGA.gov. RSVPs are appreciated but not required; walkups are welcome. More info here. Parks & Recreation updates & closures The Splash Pad at Ashford Park will be closed through noon on Saturday to repair the rubberized surface of the splash pad. The resurfacing of the parking lot at the Briarwood Road entrance to the Peachtree Creek Greenway has been postponed until Friday, July 15. The PCG itself will remain open and accessible from the Corporate Square and North Druid Hills trailheads. The parking lot is open and available for use this weekend. Red, White & Blue-Haven supports Brookhaven Police Foundation The Red, White & Blue-Haven Charity Car Show, featuring cool cars and live music on Dresden Drive last weekend, supported the Brookhaven Police Foundation. The event was presented by the Brookhaven Restaurant Alliance and Georgia Cool Cruisers. Brookhaven Annual Report features 2021's accomplishments It’s City of Brookhaven Annual Report time! The 2021 edition looks back at last year’s highlights as we continued to overcome the challenges of the pandemic. We won national awards, made major improvements to our roads and parks, and hosted a successful Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival Summer Block Party. This month we are highlighting pages from the Annual Report on our Facebook and Instagram pages @BrookhavenGAgov and @CiudadDeBrookhaven. And pay attention- there will be a fun online quiz to take with prizes courtesy of our partners at Explore Brookhaven. City of Brookhaven pools open for the summer Keep cool this summer at one of the City of Brookhaven’s municipal pools or splash pad. The pools are located at: Murphey Candler Park, 1551 W, Nancy Creek Drive, and Briarwood Park, 2235 Briarwood Way NE. The splash pad is located at Ashford Park, 2980 Redding Road. The Lynwood Park pools is closed this summer as construction is underway on a new pool, pool house and splash pad. Details here. UPCOMING CITY EVENTS & MEETINGS Next City Council Meeting: Tuesday, July 26 The Brookhaven City Council's next regular meeting will be held Tuesday, July 26, at 7 p.m. Click here for agendas and other information. ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC ALERTS Emergency Bridge/Road Closure on W. Nancy Creek Drive Effective immediately, the bridge near 1243 W. Nancy Creek Drive in Brookhaven is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. On Friday, July 1, GDOT engineers discovered severe structural issues with the bridge while conducting a routine inspection. The bridge will be closed for an extended period of time while emergency repairs are made.   Residents on the west side of the bridge must access the neighborhood from Old Johnson Ferry Road until further notice. Commuters using W. Nancy Creek Road to travel between Ashford Dunwoody Road and Sandy Springs must detour via Johnson Ferry Road or I-285.   Updates will be posted on social media and on the Public Works website at www.BrookhavenGA.gov/PublicWorks as they become available.   We appreciate everyone’s patience and support while these critical repairs are made. The latest updates on Brookhaven's paving progress Appalachee Drive, Cartecay Drive, Cove Circle, and Oaklawn Avenue are just some of the locations that Brookhaven is undertaking road repaving or reconstructions.
