Funny was elected to his first term as District 4 Councilman and Park was reelected to serve District 2. Additionally, District 1 Councilwoman Linley Jones was appointed Mayor Pro Tem, and Judge Jonathan Granade was reappointed as Chief Judge of Municipal Court. Brookhaven breaks ground on Lynwood Park improvements Mayor John Ernst and District 1 Councilwoman Linley Jones broke ground on Lynwood Park improvements this week. A series of upgrades are taking place at Lynwood thanks to the Park Bond, approved by voters in 2018. Upgrades include a splashpad, new pool, pool house with restrooms, and new ball field. COVIDCareGA, which operates the vaccination and testing site at Northeast Plaza in Brookhaven, is now hiring at all locations for traffic control to aid in the increased demand for testing. Pay is $16 an hour, and hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Email Skhan@covidcarega.com if interested in applying for a traffic control position. Be sure to include your phone number. The Brookhaven location offers rapid and PCR testing, boosters, and vaccines for adults and children every weekday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Wednesdays, and weekends from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Brookhaven site will be closed on New Year’s Day. Dresden Drive webpage updated; tentative project completion schedule below Based upon community feedback, Brookhaven is revamping the Dresden Intersection Analysis study, currently underway. The enhanced project scope will address revised development assumptions, multiple growth assumptions, and a review of potential bicycle facilities. City Council renews sponsorship of Front Yard Tree Program Back by popular demand, Brookhaven is once again partnering with Trees Atlanta to sponsor the Front Yard Tree Program. In this partnership, Trees Atlanta will plant up to 40 trees (max. 2 per household) in the front yards of Brookhaven residents. Homeowners can choose one of six varieties of oak; Tupelo, River birch, Tulip poplar, American sycamore or Bald cypress, all between six and eight feet in height. Trees Atlanta will plant the tree and provide the initial mulching and watering and include a two-year replacement guarantee. More information here.
