Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS City of Brookhaven to break ground on City Hall/City Centre project The City of Brookhaven, the acclaimed metro Atlanta community with small town charm and big city access, will officially break ground on its exciting City Centre project, a multi-purpose downtown district, on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 10:30 a.m. “Brookhaven is all about uniting our vibrant and diverse community,” says Mayor John Ernst. “We’re designing our upcoming City Centre to do just that, and it will be a place where residents can live, work, and play together like never before.” More info here. Future Brookhaven City Hall News & Updates The future Brookhaven City Hall will be a gathering space for conducting the people’s business, to celebrate as a community, exchange ideas, and serve as a focal point and NorthStar for the City of Brookhaven within the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Brookhaven City Hall will be located at the corner of Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road on the existing long-term MARTA parking lot. Put kids in the driver’s seat at Brookhaven Touch-A-Truck The popular family-friendly Brookhaven Touch-A-Truck event motors into Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The hands-on, educational event offers opportunities for children to explore, climb and touch all types of trucks, emergency response vehicles, heavy machinery and other equipment. Youngsters will have the opportunity to meet those who protect, serve and build our community. More info here. Glass recycling now available at the Public Safety Building With Briarwood Park undergoing renovations, glass recycling is now available in the parking lot of the new Public Safety Building, located at 1793 Briarwood Road. Residents invited to take bicycling survey Brookhaven needs your help to become recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC)! The BFC review process is officially underway. Notice of General Election The date of the Municipal Election for the seats of Mayor and Council Districts 1, 2, and 3 is Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. More info here. Front Yard Tree Program takes root in Brookhaven Back by popular demand, Brookhaven is once again partnering with Trees Atlanta to sponsor the Front Yard Tree Program.  In this partnership, Trees Atlanta will plant up to 80 trees. Homeowners can choose one of five varieties of White oak, Overcup oak, Willow oak, River Birch and Sycamore, all between six and eight feet in height. Trees Atlanta will plant the tree and provide the initial mulching and watering and include a two-year replacement guarantee. Beginning immediately, residents can apply at www.treesatlanta.org/yardtree and select “Brookhaven,” while quantities last. Continuing last year’s promotion, there is no application fee for Brookhaven residents.  More info here.
