Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS 'Fall Back' this Sunday A timely Brookhaven reminder to all residents that Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2 a.m. when clocks are turned back one hour to 1 a.m. City offices closed for Veterans Day City of Brookhaven administrative offices will be closed Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day and will reopen Monday, Nov.14, at 8:30 a.m. Brookhaven considers 2023 Budget Brookhaven City Manager Christian Sigman submitted the Administration’s recommended 2023 Proposed General Budget to the Mayor and City Council at the regular business meeting on Oct. 25. “The City of Brookhaven is a complex organization that provides services 24/7; maintains an extensive public infrastructure; provides engaging recreational programs; assists property owners in land development and building projects; etc. Through it all, we strive to provide the highest level of customer service, transparency, sound fiscal stewardship, and tangible results,” said Sigman. ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC ALERTS Traffic signal outage planned for Peachtree/Ashford Dunwoody intersection Weather permitting, a traffic signal outage is planned for Monday, Nov. 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as City contractors transfer service to a new traffic signal control cabinet. Police will be on hand to direct traffic. Expect delays and please use caution or avoid the area if possible. Emergency Bridge/Road Closure on W. Nancy Creek Drive Effective immediately, the bridge near 1243 W. Nancy Creek Drive in Brookhaven is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. On Friday, July 1, GDOT engineers discovered severe structural issues with the bridge while conducting a routine inspection. The contractor for the City of Brookhaven has started the demolition process of the bridge. The first phase of preparation for the demolition is the relocation of Dekalb County water lines, currently attached to the existing bridge. The City’s Public Works Department anticipates that once the water lines are moved, the demolition process will be finished in two weeks. Click here for updates. Transform I-285/400 Lane Closures Georgia DOT’s contractor will close lanes in both directions on I-285 between Ashford Dunwoody Road and Roswell Road for bridge demolition and reconstruction over Glenridge Drive, SR 400, and Peachtree Dunwoody Road. The eastbound lane closed on Oct. 8 and the westbound lane was anticipated to close on Oct. 22. This work and associated I-285 lane closures are anticipated to take eight months to complete. Motorists should expect profound delays and should avoid I-285 in this area if possible. If your route includes this area rely on your preferred wayfinding apps for alternate routes and leave early. COVID Care Georgia is now offering vaccinations and boosters for everyone ages 5+**** As part of Brookhaven’s ongoing commitment to the health and safety of its residents, a COVID testing and vaccination site is now open at Northeast Plaza, 3371 Buford Highway, in Brookhaven. The new testing site, also staffed by COVID Care Georgia, will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. every weekday except Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekends. The site can accommodate drive-up and walk-up customers and medical assistants on site can administer tests to people ages six months and older. The site is located near the movie theater in Northeast Plaza, and the testing is at no cost to the insured or uninsured. More info here.
