Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources  The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Brandon Gurley sworn in as Brookhaven’s police chief The City of Brookhaven promoted Deputy Chief Brandon Gurley to Chief of Police at a ceremony Friday, Sept. 30, at Brookhaven City Hall. Gurley succeeds Brookhaven’s first police chief, Gary Yandura, who retires in January 2023 after nearly 10 years of service with Brookhaven Police. Full story here. Following the presentation and ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Pro Tem Linley Jones and Mayor John Ernst, residents enjoyed a performance by Michael Levine, co-founder of The Learning Groove, and complimentary popsicles from King of Pops. The Community Green and the North Boardwalk were funded by proceeds from the Parks Bond, overwhelmingly approved by Brookhaven voters in a 2018 referendum. Brookhaven residents should stay weather aware this weekend As Georgia braces for impacts from Hurricane Ian, the City of Brookhaven’s Emergency Management division is advising residents to stay tuned to the latest weather forecasts, and to prepare for possible power outages and road flooding. Click here for agendas and other information. ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC ALERTS Emergency Bridge/Road Closure on W. Nancy Creek Drive Effective immediately, the bridge near 1243 W. Nancy Creek Drive in Brookhaven is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. On Friday, July 1, GDOT engineers discovered severe structural issues with the bridge while conducting a routine inspection. Click here for updates. The latest updates on Brookhaven's paving progress Appalachee Drive, Cartecay Drive, Cove Circle, and Oaklawn Avenue are just some of the locations that Brookhaven is undertaking road repaving or reconstructions. COVID Care Georgia is now offering vaccinations and boosters for everyone ages 5+**** As part of Brookhaven’s ongoing commitment to the health and safety of its residents, a COVID testing and vaccination site is now open at Northeast Plaza, 3371 Buford Highway, in Brookhaven.  The new testing site, also staffed by COVID Care Georgia, will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. every weekday except Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekends.
