Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Brookhaven breaks ground on Briarwood Park improvements A special groundbreaking ceremony this week including City officials, staff, and members of the Briarwood Park Conservancy, kicked off construction activities to build out improvements to Briarwood Park at 2235 Briarwood Way NE in Brookhaven. Improvements to Briarwood Park are one of the last remaining projects under the 2018 Park Bond, approved by voters after substantial public input. More info here. 'Coffee' meeting offers roundabout forum District 3 Councilwoman Madeleine Simmons and Mayor Pro Tem and District 1 Councilwoman Linley Jones held a special “Coffee With a Councilwoman” this week to offer a forum for residents to give input on the GDOT’s proposed safety solutions at Ashford Dunwoody Road and Windsor Parkway. City of Brookhaven offices closed for Veterans Day City of Brookhaven administrative offices will be closed Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veterans Day and will reopen Monday, Nov. 13, at 8:30 a.m. 'Fall back' this weekend A timely Brookhaven reminder to all residents that Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, Nov. 5, at 2 a.m. when clocks are turned back one hour to 1 a.m. Kids 'Touch a Truck' at Blackburn Park Children had the opportunity to explore police vehicles, a firetruck, ambulance and other pieces of heavy machinery at Brookhaven's annual Touch a Truck event last weekend. Public input needed for Ashford Dunwoody, Windsor Parkway intersection The City of Brookhaven, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation, is seeking feedback about a proposed project to convert the stop intersection at Ashford Dunwoody Road and Windsor Parkway into a single-lane roundabout. Municipal Election Information and Ballot Questions The date of the Municipal Election for the seats of Mayor and Council Districts 1, 2, and 3 is Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. More info here. Brookhaven voters will also see a second 6-year Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) and whether to continue the suspension of HOST and replace it with an EHOST. More information can be found on these issues here. Voters in Brookhaven municipal elections have the option of advance voting which began Oct. 16.   The advance voting polls will be open Monday–Friday (Oct. 16–Nov. 3) from 7 a.m.–7 p.m.; Saturday (Oct. 21 & 28) from 9 a.m.–6 p.m., and Sunday (Oct. 22 & 29) from noon–5 p.m. The Brookhaven location is at the Lynwood Recreation Center, 3360 Osborne Rd. NE. This site will also have a dropbox location. Greenway patrons will be able to park at the other trailheads at 1801 Corporate Blvd. and 1793 Briarwood Road. Briarwood Recreation Center closed for park renovations With the Brookhaven City Council’s approval Sept. 12 of one of the final Park Bond construction contracts, Briarwood Recreation Center is closed for park renovations. The rec center is closed until late spring for parking lot and stormwater work. The Briarwood Way entrance is permanently closed. Enter the park through the main entrance on Briarwood Road.
