Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Brookhaven celebrates Black History Month with Lynwood Trailblazers, Cross Key High event As part of our Black History Month commemorative events, the City of Brookhaven, in collaboration with Cross Keys High School, hosted a Q&R session with 20 Lynwood Trailblazers, a group of courageous and resilient students who integrated into Cross Keys after 1968. Future Brookhaven City Hall project information The future Brookhaven City Hall will be a gathering space for conducting the people’s business, to celebrate as a community, exchange ideas, and serve as a focal point and NorthStar for the City of Brookhaven within the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Brookhaven City Hall will be located at the corner of Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road on the existing long-term MARTA parking lot. Click here for more information. Front Yard Tree Program takes root in Brookhaven Back by popular demand, Brookhaven is once again partnering with Trees Atlanta to sponsor the Front Yard Tree Program. In this partnership, Trees Atlanta will plant up to 80 trees. Homeowners can choose one of five varieties of White oak, Overcup oak, Willow oak, River Birch and Sycamore, all between six and eight feet in height. Trees Atlanta will plant the tree and provide the initial mulching and watering and include a two-year replacement guarantee. Beginning immediately, residents can apply at www.treesatlanta.org/yardtree and select “Brookhaven,” while quantities last. Continuing last year’s promotion, there is no application fee for Brookhaven residents. More info here. CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL: MARCH 25-26 ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC ALERTS Water main replacement: Brook Forest Drive DeKalb Watershed Management has a large watermain replacement project progressing in the area and expects to schedule work on Brook Forest Drive March 13-27. The project will require intermittent lane closures with flaggers present. Emergency Bridge/Road Closure on W. Nancy Creek Drive The bridge near 1243 W. Nancy Creek Drive in Brookhaven is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic due to severe structural issues and has been demolished. Click here for updates on construction of the new bridge. COVID-19 UPDATES & RESOURCES Brookhaven closings, cancellations and resources The City of Brookhaven has established a website listing Brookhaven closings, cancellations, testing sites, and resources relating to the COVID-19 pandemic at www.BrookhavenGA.gov/covid19 COVID-19 testing & vaccination site open in Northeast Plaza on Buford Highway ****VACCINES FOR KIDS NOW AVAILABLE! COVID Care Georgia is now offering vaccinations and boosters for everyone ages 5+**** As part of Brookhaven’s ongoing commitment to the health and safety of its residents, a COVID testing and vaccination site is now open at Northeast Plaza, 3371 Buford Highway, in Brookhaven. The new testing site, also staffed by COVID Care Georgia, will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. every weekday except Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekends. The site can accommodate drive-up and walk-up customers and medical assistants on site can administer tests to people ages six months and older. The site is located near the movie theater in Northeast Plaza, and the testing is at no cost to the insured or uninsured. More info here.
