Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources  The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS City Hall survey extended until end of February The City of Brookhaven is seeking public input on the look of its future City Hall. Residents are encouraged to take part in a survey to gauge their visual design preferences. Residents can learn more about the project and participate in the survey at https://brookhavencityhall.wixsite.com/brookhavenproject. More info here. Brookhaven Police Department first Georgia public safety agency to livestream 911 calls to officers in the field The Brookhaven Police Department has begun live-streaming 911 emergency calls directly to officers in the field. In late October 2022 Brookhaven Police became the first agency in Georgia to allow officers to hear the caller’s voice in real time and immediately identify the caller’s location without delay. These capabilities have never been available before. At present, there are only 78 agencies nationwide with this capability. More info here. Brookhaven updates progress on the implementation of SJREC recommendations Approximately one year after the Brookhaven Social Justice, Race and Equity Commission (SJREC) presented its recommendations to the Brookhaven City Council, the Administration presented a report on the progress at the City Council Advance on Jan. 28. Formed in December 2020, the 37-member, all-volunteer, citizen-led SJREC was tasked by Brookhaven's Mayor and City Council to review and make recommendations regarding the City’s mission and vision statements; policies and procedures across hiring, procurement, and policing; and community engagement.  The SJREC Final Report, the original Implementation Plan, and the one-year update are all posted on the City website at www.BrookhavenGA.gov/SJREC. More info here. Brookhaven Citizens' Police Academy accepting applications The next Brookhaven citizens' police academy is set to start on Wednesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Brookhaven Police Department, 2665 Buford Hwy NE. CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL: MARCH 25-26 ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC ALERTS Ashford Dunwoody/Peachtree lane closure The right turn lane on Ashford Dunwoody Road onto Peachtree Road southbound will be closed through mid to late February due to road construction along that corridor. The existing Ashford Dunwoody left turn lane onto Peachtree will remain open and serve as both the left and right turn lane. Expect delays and use alternate routes if possible. Skyland Drive Road Closure: Jan. 18-Feb. 17 A storm sewer repair across Skyland Drive (between Duke Rd and Georgian Terrace (at/near 1755 Georgian Terrace) will require a road closure starting Wednesday, Jan. 18, through Feb. 17 (weather permitting).
