The project replaces the existing 5’ wide sidewalk that crosses the MCP dam on the north side of W Nancy Creek Drive with a 11’ wide sidewalk. The new sidewalk will have seven 6’ wide x 30’ long observation decks overlooking the lake with benches and railing. During construction, park trail users can detour across the street to use the sidewalk on the south side of the dam, or go through the baseball/softball complex, or go down to the South Trail. Crews have already begun lowering the water level on Murphey Candler Lake bin order for construction to continue the south multi use trail on the dam. As of this writing, the water level is down about 6 inches, and will ultimately be reduced by nearly 3 feet. During this time residents will notice substantial additional exposed shoreline. When construction is complete, the lake will be returned to its normal pool. More information and facts about the project can be found on the Parks Bond website at https://www.brookhavenga.gov/parks-bond-ref.
