The fun included music and performances from international performers, a global marketplace, food trucks featuring a variety of international cuisines, a health & wellness fair, kidz zone, and a 5K benefiting We Love Buford Highway. Click here for an expanded photo gallery. ‘Mondays With Madeleine’ virtual town hall to feature public safety update The public is invited to join District 3 Councilwoman Madeleine Simmons for the October 2023 edition of her “Mondays With Madeleine” town hall. This month’s town hall will be held Monday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 7 p.m. via video conference, and will be broadcast on Facebook Live on the City’s Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/BrookhavenGAgov. “Please join me for District 3 updates as well as a discussion with Police Chief Brandon Gurley for tips on keeping your home safe during the holiday season, as well as general public safety updates,” said Councilwoman Simmons. Groundbreaking for Briarwood Park improvements on Nov. 1 A special groundbreaking ceremony will be conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. to kick off construction activities to build out improvements to Briarwood Park at 2235 Briarwood Way NE in Brookhaven. “I’m thrilled for our district and the City that we are taking yet another step in our commitment to amazing parks and greenspaces,” said District 2 Councilwoman Jennifer Owens. “Briarwood Park is such an asset to our community. After these improvements, Briarwood Park will be an even better place for the community to gather and enjoy the new and refreshed amenities.” Improvements to Briarwood Park are one of the last remaining projects under the 2018 Park Bond, approved by voters after substantial public input. Public input needed for Ashford Dunwoody, Windsor Parkway intersection The City of Brookhaven, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation, is seeking feedback about a proposed project to convert the stop intersection at Ashford Dunwoody Road and Windsor Parkway into a single-lane roundabout. Residents invited to provide input for Ashford Dunwoody, Windsor Parkway intersection at ‘Coffee With a Councilwoman’ District 3 Councilwoman Madeleine Simmons and Mayor Pro Tem and District 1 Councilwoman Linley Jones will host a “Coffee With a Councilwoman” on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 8:30 a.m. at Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road. The meeting will offer a forum for residents to give input on the Georgia Department of Transportation’s proposed safety solutions at Ashford Dunwoody Road and Windsor Parkway. More info here. Municipal Election Information and Ballot Questions The date of the Municipal Election for the seats of Mayor and Council Districts 1, 2, and 3 is Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. More info here. Brookhaven voters will also see a second 6-year Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) and whether to continue the suspension of HOST and replace it with an EHOST. The advance voting polls will be open Monday–Friday (Oct. 16–Nov. 3) from 7 a.m.–7 p.m.; Saturday (Oct. 21 & 28) from 9 a.m.–6 p.m., and Sunday (Oct. 22 & 29) from noon–5 p.m. The Brookhaven location is at the Lynwood Recreation Center, 3360 Osborne Rd.
