Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Artists of all ages invited to ‘Paint the Park’ on Sunday, Oct. 8 The City of Brookhaven’s popular Paint the Park event returns to Blackburn Park in October. Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to use the park as inspiration on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. More info here. Residents invited to participate in Comprehensive Plan update The City of Brookhaven officially kicked off the 10-year update to Brookhaven’s Comprehensive Plan in a public hearing before City Council at its Aug. 22 regular meeting. In-person and online engagement opportunities, including a series of community workshops, an online survey and map input tool, and more, get underway in early October. October workshop details here. Briarwood Recreation Center to close for park renovations With the Brookhaven City Council’s approval Sept. 12 of one of the final Park Bond construction contracts, Briarwood Recreation Center will close for park renovations beginning Oct. 1. Residents invited to take bicycling survey Brookhaven needs your help to become recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC)! The BFC review process is officially underway. To help gain a better understanding of local bicyclists' experiences in Brookhaven, please take this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BFC_Fall23 The survey will remain open through Friday, Oct. 20. This survey is open to anyone familiar with bicycling in Brookhaven.   Sustainable Brookhaven bumper stickers available now Do you drive an electric or hybrid vehicle in the City of Brookhaven? Then drop by City Hall at 4362 Peachtree Road between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday to claim your complimentary Sustainable Brookhaven bumper sticker. You can even charge up your vehicle for free while you are here! And stay tuned for more information about electric vehicle charging stations in the City, our electric fleet, and how all this helps create a more Sustainable Brookhaven. Notice of General Election The date of the Municipal Election for the seats of Mayor and Council Districts 1, 2, and 3 is Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. More info here. Front Yard Tree Program takes root in Brookhaven Back by popular demand, Brookhaven is once again partnering with Trees Atlanta to sponsor the Front Yard Tree Program.  In this partnership, Trees Atlanta will plant up to 80 trees. Homeowners can choose one of five varieties of White oak, Overcup oak, Willow oak, River Birch and Sycamore, all between six and eight feet in height. Trees Atlanta will plant the tree and provide the initial mulching and watering and include a two-year replacement guarantee. Beginning immediately, residents can apply at www.treesatlanta.org/yardtree and select “Brookhaven,” while quantities last. Continuing last year’s promotion, there is no application fee for Brookhaven residents.  More info here. Future Brookhaven City Hall News & Updates The future Brookhaven City Hall will be a gathering space for conducting the people’s business, to celebrate as a community, exchange ideas, and serve as a focal point and NorthStar for the City of Brookhaven within the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Brookhaven City Hall will be located at the corner of Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road on the existing long-term MARTA parking lot. Public review - City of Brookhaven 2022 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report The City of Brookhaven is seeking public input on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program 2022 Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER). A copy of the draft 2022 CAPER is now posted for review through Sept. 25, 2023, on the City-website at https://www.brookhavenga.gov/sites/default/files/fileattachments/community_development/page/24831/fy2022_caper_-_draft_for_posting.pdf A public hearing will take place Sept. 26, 7 p.m. at Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road.
