Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources  The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Residents invited to ‘Coffee with a Councilwoman’ session in May Mayor Pro Tempore and District 1 Councilwoman Linley Jones will host the latest in her series “Coffee with a Councilwoman” on Thursday, May 4, at 8:30 a.m., at Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road NE, in Brookhaven. “I encourage everyone to join us and share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns for the City and the District,” said Jones.  The event will include updates on progress in District 1 and an open forum question and answer session with Mayor Pro Tempore Jones. Brookhaven celebrates Chick-fil-A grand opening Mayor John Ernst was on hand to celebrate the recent grand opening of Chick-fil-A at 4046 Peachtree Road in Brookhaven, located across from MARTA and next to Mellow Mushroom. Brookhaven joins forces with Leadership Perimeter The City of Brookhaven has partnered with Leadership Perimeter to develop and inspire leaders to serve their communities for a lifetime. Applications for the Class of 2024 are now being accepted. The City of Brookhaven will initially provide tuition for five Brookhaven residents to participate in the 2024 Class of Leadership Perimeter.  More information here. Brookhaven Parks & Recreation Spring Activity Guide available now Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department's Spring Activity Guide is available now at this link: tinyurl.com/SpringActivityGuide2023 To have a copy mailed to your home, email News@BrookhavenGa.gov Front Yard Tree Program takes root in Brookhaven Back by popular demand, Brookhaven is once again partnering with Trees Atlanta to sponsor the Front Yard Tree Program.  In this partnership, Trees Atlanta will plant up to 80 trees. Homeowners can choose one of five varieties of White oak, Overcup oak, Willow oak, River Birch and Sycamore, all between six and eight feet in height. Trees Atlanta will plant the tree and provide the initial mulching and watering and include a two-year replacement guarantee. Beginning immediately, residents can apply at www.treesatlanta.org/yardtree and select “Brookhaven,” while quantities last. Continuing last year’s promotion, there is no application fee for Brookhaven residents.  More info here. Future Brookhaven City Hall project information The future Brookhaven City Hall will be a gathering space for conducting the people’s business, to celebrate as a community, exchange ideas, and serve as a focal point and NorthStar for the City of Brookhaven within the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Brookhaven City Hall will be located at the corner of Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road on the existing long-term MARTA parking lot. Click here for more information. ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC ALERTS Ashford Dunwoody/Peachtree Road intersection project lane closures next week The contractor for the Ashford Dunwoody/Peachtree Road intersection project is scheduling the final asphalt surfacing next week, starting Monday, 4/24, through Thursday, 4/27, weather permitting. This work will require lane closures/staging only (no road closures) at different times on Peachtree Road and Ashford Dunwoody Road, and in the intersection, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Traffic control officers, flaggers, cones, and message boards will be utilized. Delays are expected, and please avoid the intersection if possible. The entire project is expected to be complete by the end of April, weather permitting. MARTA parking lot repaving underway Access to a portion of Brookhaven station’s East Parking lot is limited to allow for a laydown/staging area for the repaving contractor as they prepare to repave the lots and for the construction of the City of Brookhaven City Hall. The North Entrance along Apple Valley will be closed to patrons. Patrons will utilize the south entrance on Apple Valley to access the lot on the station’s west side. Repaving will begin shortly thereafter and will continue for several months and the limited access will not affect any ADA parking at this time; however, ADA spots may be temporarily relocated as the project moves forward. The Covid Testing site will not be affected. Patrons should watch for directional signage, as access points and parking areas will shift as the work progresses. Front
