Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources  The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS City finalizes agreement with MARTA for new City Hall at Brookhaven rail station Brookhaven's new City Hall will be located at the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe train station. At its regular meeting on June 14, the City of Brookhaven approved the terms of an agreement for a new City Hall location to be built on the MARTA-owned property. MARTA previously adopted the terms of the agreement at its meeting on June 9. "Today's action by the City Council marks a historic milestone for Brookhaven. This is the result of a collaboration with MARTA which has been ongoing for five years,” said Mayor John Ernst. “We were all seeking a transit-friendly live-work-play solution that meets the current and future lifestyle needs of residents and our greater regional community. I am looking forward to continuing the partnership with MARTA as we create a permanent City Hall.” More here. Brookhaven Mayor participates in business panel Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst this week joined the mayors from Sandy Springs and Dunwoody to discuss regional growth and development opportunities in the Perimeter area at the Bisnow conference. City offices closed in observance of Juneteenth City of Brookhaven administrative offices will be closed Monday, June 20, in observance of Juneteenth and will reopen Tuesday, June 21, at 8:30 a.m. Hundreds participate in recycling event It was another successful Household Hazardous Waste Drive for the cities of Brookhaven and Chamblee! Thank you to the hundreds of Brookhaven and Chamblee residents who came out to recycle electronics, paint, chemicals, textiles, plastic, and styrofoam. A big thanks is also in order to our event partners and volunteers – Live Thrive - Center for Hard to Recycle Materials, City of Chamblee, Keep Chamblee Beautiful, Plaza Fiesta, Cox Enterprises, Chamblee Police Department and Brookhaven Police Department for making this event run smoothly. Brookhaven Annual Report features 2021's accomplishments It’s City of Brookhaven Annual Report time! The 2021 edition looks back at last year’s highlights as we continued to overcome the challenges of the pandemic. We won national awards, made major improvements to our roads and parks, and hosted a successful Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival Summer Block Party. This month we are highlighting pages from the Annual Report on our Facebook and Instagram pages @BrookhavenGAgov and @CiudadDeBrookhaven. And pay attention- there will be a fun online quiz to take with prizes courtesy of our partners at Explore Brookhaven. City of Brookhaven pools open for the summer Keep cool this summer at one of the City of Brookhaven’s municipal pools or splash pad. The pools are located at: Murphey Candler Park, 1551 W, Nancy Creek Drive, and Briarwood Park, 2235 Briarwood Way NE. The splash pad is located at Ashford Park, 2980 Redding Road. The Lynwood Park pools is closed this summer as construction is underway on a new pool, pool house and splash pad. Details here. UPCOMING CITY EVENTS & MEETINGS Parks Bond News: Oversight Committee Meeting The next Parks Bond Oversight Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22. The meeting will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Lynwood Park Recreation Center, 3360 Osborne Road. Updates will be provided on the Parks Bond projects. An overview of progress on the Lynwood Park splashpad project will also be discussed. Brookhaven to hold public hearings for 2022 millage rate Residents are encouraged to attend upcoming public hearings for the 2022 millage rate. Anyone who wants to attend and or participate can do so in person or virtually via Zoom.  The first meeting was held Tuesday, June 14, with upcoming meetings scheduled for June 28 at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at City Hall at 4362 Peachtree Road, Brookhaven. Agenda and zoom access information can be found here. After the final public hearing, the millage rate will be formally adopted at the June 28, 2022, meeting at 7 p.m. More information here.
