Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources  The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Blue Star Memorial Marker dedicated in Historic Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst, along with District 3 Councilwoman Madeleine Simmons, accepted a Blue Star Memorial Marker on behalf of the City. The Marker was installed in Historic Brookhaven in the triangle park at East Brookhaven and Brookhaven Drive thanks to the Club Estates Garden Club. The Blue Star Memorial Marker is a Garden Club project that honors those who serve in the Armed Forces and veterans. Brookhaven joins forces with Leadership Perimeter The City of Brookhaven has partnered with Leadership Perimeter to develop and inspire leaders to serve their communities for a lifetime. Applications for the Class of 2024 are now being accepted. The City of Brookhaven will initially provide tuition for five Brookhaven residents to participate in the 2024 Class of Leadership Perimeter.  More information here. Brookhaven Parks & Recreation Spring Activity Guide available now Brookhaven Parks and Recreation Department's Spring Activity Guide is available now at this link: tinyurl.com/SpringActivityGuide2023 To have a copy mailed to your home, email News@BrookhavenGa.gov Front Yard Tree Program takes root in Brookhaven Back by popular demand, Brookhaven is once again partnering with Trees Atlanta to sponsor the Front Yard Tree Program.  In this partnership, Trees Atlanta will plant up to 80 trees. Homeowners can choose one of five varieties of White oak, Overcup oak, Willow oak, River Birch and Sycamore, all between six and eight feet in height. Trees Atlanta will plant the tree and provide the initial mulching and watering and include a two-year replacement guarantee. Beginning immediately, residents can apply at www.treesatlanta.org/yardtree and select “Brookhaven,” while quantities last. Continuing last year’s promotion, there is no application fee for Brookhaven residents.  More info here. Future Brookhaven City Hall project information The future Brookhaven City Hall will be a gathering space for conducting the people’s business, to celebrate as a community, exchange ideas, and serve as a focal point and NorthStar for the City of Brookhaven within the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Brookhaven City Hall will be located at the corner of Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road on the existing long-term MARTA parking lot. Click here for more information. ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC ALERTS Coosawattee Drive road closure March 27-April 21 A storm sewer repair at/near 2395/2396 Coosawattee Drive will require a road closure starting Monday, March 27, through April 21, 2023 (weather permitting). Detours will be in place. Emergency Bridge/Road Closure on W. Nancy Creek Drive The bridge near 1243 W. Nancy Creek Drive in Brookhaven is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic due to severe structural issues and has been demolished. Click here for updates on construction of the new bridge. AROUND TOWN 'Pedal the Parks' on Sunday, May 7 Pedal the Parks returns this year on May 7 with a 6-mile bike ride through six Brookhaven parks! This family friendly ride presented by the Brookhaven Bike Alliance will begin at 2 p.m. at Skyland Park and include perks at each park. Registration open for Murphey Candler Swim Team Summer Swim Season is here! Looking for a fun summer swim team for your kids? Look no further! Murphey Candler Swim Team is open for registration through June 1. Ages 5-18. Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted.
