Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Brookhaven’s City Hall/City Centre project gets underway The City of Brookhaven, the acclaimed metro Atlanta community with small town charm and big city access, kicked off construction of its exciting City Centre project, a multi-purpose downtown district, with a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 11. “Brookhaven is all about uniting our vibrant and diverse community,” says Mayor John Ernst. “We’re designing our upcoming City Centre to do just that, and it will be a place where residents can live, work, and play together like never before.” More info here. Future Brookhaven City Hall News & Updates The future Brookhaven City Hall will be a gathering space for conducting the people’s business, to celebrate as a community, exchange ideas, and serve as a focal point and NorthStar for the City of Brookhaven within the Atlanta metropolitan area. The Brookhaven City Hall will be located at the corner of Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road on the existing long-term MARTA parking lot. Community 'Paints the Park' The community helped celebrate the importance art plays in our lives at Brookhaven's 9th annual Paint the Park in Blackburn Park, hosted and created by Mayor Pro Tem and District 1 Councilwoman Linley Jones. Over 200 people attended the event, which, in addition to the art contest, also included a chalk walk sponsored by the Brookhaven Arts & Culture Commission, and free face painting and frosty treats. Special thanks to our volunteer judges, Lola Okunola, Candice Poucher and Samantha Trust, and our volunteers from the Chamblee High School art program. Little Amal visits Brookhaven Little Amal is the 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child at the heart of The Walk. She has become a global symbol of human rights, especially those of refugees. From Sept. 7 to Nov. 26, 2023, Amal is journeying 11,000 miles across the United States and Mexico in one of the largest free public festivals ever created. 40 towns and cities from Boston to San Diego and six cities from Tijuana to Tapachula created more than 100 free public events to welcome her. On October 8, 2023, Little Amal's journey came to Brookhaven, GA. Check out a video of the visit above. Community invited to participate in Multimodal Study open house The community is invited to an open house for Brookhaven’s Multimodal Study on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road. The plan will serve as an update to the City’s first Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trail Plan, which was adopted in 2016. More info here. Glass recycling now available at the Public Safety Building With Briarwood Park undergoing renovations, glass recycling is now available in the parking lot of the new Public Safety Building, located at 1793 Briarwood Road. Residents invited to take bicycling survey Brookhaven needs your help to become recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC)! The BFC review process is officially underway.
