You can find it in the March edition of Reporter Newspapers, download it here, or request a copy mailed to your home by emailing News@BrookhavenGA.gov. Give feedback on the City Centre Master Plan draft The public is invited to comment through March 25 on the draft of the City Centre Master Plan, which will guide development of a future city center. Park Bond News: Murphey Candler Park Pool parking lot improvements The Murphey Candler Park pool parking lot improvements are complete and will be available for park users beginning this Friday evening. The Park Bond funded project includes a resurfaced south lot and an expanded north lot for athletic league use now and pool users this summer. The north lot was expanded to include an additional 30 parking spaces. This should help alleviate parking along Candler Lake W. A water quality structure was added as part of the stormwater system and landscaping was added in the north lot and along Candler Lake W. The project also incudes a sidewalk along Candler Lake W that connects to the playground. Future site improvements with the Lake House will complete the connection all the way to W Nancy Creek Drive and the ball fields. City Council renews sponsorship of Front Yard Tree Program Back by popular demand, Brookhaven is once again partnering with Trees Atlanta to sponsor the Front Yard Tree Program.  In this partnership, Trees Atlanta will plant up to 40 trees (max. 2 per household) in the front yards of Brookhaven residents. Homeowners can choose one of six varieties of oak; Tupelo, River birch, Tulip poplar, American sycamore or Bald cypress, all between six and eight feet in height. Trees Atlanta will plant the tree and provide the initial mulching and watering and include a two-year replacement guarantee. More information here. UPCOMING CITY EVENTS & MEETINGS 2022 Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival: March 26-27 The City of Brookhaven announces the 2022 Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival, taking place Saturday and Sunday, March 26-27, at Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road in Brookhaven. Admission is free. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are the Saturday, March 26, concert headliner, while Anderson East headlines on Sunday, March 27. Also taking the stage Saturday are Howie Day, Dumpstaphunk, Mike Kinnebrew, and Kaylin Amaro. Drivin N Cryin, Morgan Wade, and Brendan Abernathy join the Sunday lineup. More info on the music lineup and a lineup schedule here. This year’s festival will also bring back favorites such as the Artists’ Market, Kidz Zone, Pet World, Classic Car Show, and food trucks. The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom 5K will take place on Saturday, March 19. For more details and to sign up, go to https://mcpmarlins.swimtopia.com/ Registration open for Brookhaven volleyball, kickball Registration closes on March 9 at 8 p.m. ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC ALERTS DeKalb Watershed replacing sewer lines in Drew Valley Road area DeKalb County Watershed will be inspecting and replacing sanitary sewer lines on Drew Valley Road and streets intersecting it -- Nesbitt, Poplar Springs, Ewing, Cortez Ln, Thompson Rd, Skyland Trl, Cove Circle, Wawona, and Briarwood Way -- starting next week with a duration of approximately three months. Residents should expect traffic delays as DeKalb contractor Renee Group will be working in the middle of the roads. No roads will be closed and signs and flaggers will be present at all times.   Paving progress all over Brookhaven Appalachee Drive, Cartecay Drive, Cove Circle, and Oaklawn Avenue are just some of the locations that Brookhaven is undertaking road repaving or reconstructions.
