Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources  The Brookhaven Blast Brookhaven News, Updates and Resources CITY OF BROOKHAVEN NEWS Brookhaven Citizens' Police Academy accepting applications The next Brookhaven citizens' police academy is set to start on Wednesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Brookhaven Police Department, 2665 Buford Hwy NE. The citizens' police academy will run through May 10, and the deadline to apply is March 1. For more information, click here. City Hall survey extended thru February & virtual input meetings The City of Brookhaven is seeking public input on the look of its future City Hall. Residents are encouraged to take part in a survey to gauge their visual design preferences. Residents can learn more about the project and participate in the survey at https://brookhavencityhall.wixsite.com/brookhavenproject. More info here. Brookhaven 10-Year Anniversary Edition celebrates City's history Check out the December issue of Reporter Newspaper's special City of Brookhaven 10th anniversary edition. Email News@BrookhavenGA.gov to have a copy mailed to your home. Parks Bond Update to hit mailboxes soon Coming soon - a Citywide mailout of the update on all Parks Bond projects. Since the Parks Bond was approved by voters in 2018, a lot of upgrades have already occurred in Brookhaven's Parks. See what has happened, and what's in store for Ashford Park, Blackburn Park, Briarwood Park, Brookhaven Park, Lynwood Park, Murphey Candler Park and systemwide improvements. Celebrate Brookhaven Arbor Day by planting trees with arborists Brookhaven's Arbor Day is Feb. 25, and we are celebrating the occasion by planting trees, and you are invited! Join Brookhaven arborists at Skyland Park at 10 am on Feb.25 to participate in the planting of trees in public spaces and learn about proper techniques for tree planting at home. Skyland Park is located at 2630 Skyland Drive - be sure to wear clothes suitable for digging in the dirt. CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL: MARCH 25-26 ROAD CLOSURES & TRAFFIC ALERTS Ashford Dunwoody/Peachtree lane closure The right turn lane on Ashford Dunwoody Road onto Peachtree Road southbound will be closed through mid- to late-February due to road construction along that corridor. The existing Ashford Dunwoody left turn lane onto Peachtree will remain open and serve as both the left and right turn lane. Expect delays and use alternate routes if possible. Skyland Drive Road Closure: Jan. 18-Feb. 17 A storm sewer repair across Skyland Drive (between Duke Rd and Georgian Terrace (at/near 1755 Georgian Terrace) will require a road closure starting Wednesday, Jan. 18, through Feb. 17 (weather permitting). Detours will be in place. More information and updates here. Emergency Bridge/Road Closure on W. Nancy Creek Drive The bridge near 1243 W. Nancy Creek Drive in Brookhaven is closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic due to severe structural issues and has been demolished. Click here for updates on construction of the new bridge.
